Getting Started
You must be 16 or over to ride a moped.
You must be 17 or over to ride up to 125cc motorcycle or scooter (14bhp max)
You will need a provisional driving licence.
Application forms are available from the Post Office.
A full car licence will act as a provisional.
The next step is to complete a Compulsory Basic Training Course (CBT).
Upon successful completion of this course you will be issued a certificate which will validate your provisional licence allowing you to ride solo with 'L' Plates:-

• Age 16 years - Moped i.e. Bike or Scooter less than 50cc limited to 30mph
• Age 17 years+ - Motorcycle or Scooter less than 125cc less than 14bhp output

Please remember you must be 17 or over for a 125 machine and 21 or over for the Direct Access big bikes. |
